Dr. Guillermo Amescua has been practicing medicine for 13 years.
Guillermo is a top cornea and anterior segment surgeon. He was born in Phoenix, AZ, grew up in Ciudad Obregon, Mexico and completed medical school at Tec de Monterrey in 2004, his 3-year ophthalmology residency at the University of Pittsburgh where he was chief resident, spent 2 years doing ocular immunology research at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute and completed a 2-year fellowship at Bascom Palmer in cornea, ocular surface and refractive surgery. Guillermo also practiced a year of internal medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ and a year of general medicine in Allende, Mexico.
Guillermo has published several articles in the most renowned Ophthalmology Journals worldwide and is an active member of the American Ophthalmology Academy and Secretary of the Pan-American Society of Cornea.
Since 2011 Dr.
Amescua has participated in annual mission trips to Honduras and Mexico helping over 750 low income patients recover their vision. In addition, he has followed the example of his mentors in teaching and training future ophthalmology
surgeons - who in turn have become mentors, generating a positive tradition within the ophthalmology community.

of South Florida, LV Prasad Eye Institute, and CONDE-UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico)
